In June of 2021, a policy committee approved keeping secrets from parents

Students of any age at both the elementary and secondary levels can request to change to their gender pronouns and name at school without the knowledge of parents or guardians, according to a board policy in Windsor-Essex.

parents express concerns

So much has happened in the last three years. This policy came in to force during Covid when most Parents were concentrating on trying to keep their jobs and keeping their family safe. Fast forward to today, more and more parents/students are actually waking up to what is going on in schools. Since then they have staged walk outs in schools and have held protests. CBC wrote an article on the School Board gender identity in October 2022

The article states that Students of any age at both the elementary and secondary levels can request to change to their gender pronouns and name at school without the knowledge of parents or guardians, according to a board policy in Windsor-Essex.

But Sarah Cipkar, public school board trustee, who is also the chair of the policy committee, said the new regulation focuses on the best interests of students.

“I think what this does is it allows students to create an alternative safe space within the school environment where they can explore and express themselves differently,” said Cipkar, who is also seeking re-election on Oct. 24.

Parents beg to differ. When has it been OK for our schools to make life changing decisions for our children without our knowledge. Safe space? The schools have not yet made the schools a safe space from bullies.

Where did parents rights go?

It is interesting when you look at what the schools need your permission for, or when they will contact you about your child:

They will not hesitate to contact you if YOUR child misbehaves in class or bullies another student

When YOUR child falls behind in their studies

When YOUR child wears something inappropriate in the school

When they need A PARENTS consent to let a photographer take their photo in school

When your child is involved in a fight

or YOUR permission for your child to attend a dance

or written consent for a school trip

or for them to leave the school premises in order to attend doctor/dentist appointments.

And the school will be the first person to call Child services if they suspect child abuse.

But Parents will be kept in the dark if your child expresses a desire to proceed down a path of hormonal and surgical intervention.

Little did parents know that a group of School Board Trustees would approve of a policy that locks you out of your Childs life and their mental health.

GECDSB Trustees

The biggest concerns that parents have, is that their child will be living a double life. One at school where they may identify as the opposite sex, and then they come home as themselves There is also a concern regarding liability. If a School takes on the responsibility for advising your child on puberty blockers, and surgery in the future does it not make them “liable for a possible law suit in the future“. What happens many years later when the child has suffered with numerous surgeries and infections and feel that the school was too encouraging and did not give them enough information. Do kids get educated about the possible side effects, long term effects, infections and numerous surgeries? Are they shown images of double mastectomies’? The CAMH (The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is where students over the age of 17 are referred to At this age, they would still be living at home, so now they have total strangers advising them on a life altering journey with no family support.

Take Detransitioners Seriously

Thousands of kids are now suing companies for pushing them towards hormone blockers and surgery. Why have the numbers of kids increased so dramatically? Especially girls wanting to transition? With the growing number of men and women who transitioned back because they were not told that even after all the bodily changes they still did not feel right. In this article some detransitioners realize, after years of living as a trans person, that they are instead lesbian, gay, or bisexual.  But the surgeries are not reversible. They are not left sterile and unable to have a normal sex life.

This newspaper interviewed a woman who worked at one of the Pediatric gender clinics. She shared some of the stories.
